Board Leadership + Professional Community + Industry Impact
Leadership Beyond the Organization
Contributing to the professional community that helped shape an important chapter of my career.

Giving Back
Throughout my career, I have believed that professional growth shouldn't happen in isolation. Industry communities create opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from people with different perspectives and contribute to the development of others.
My involvement with the American Advertising Federation became an important part of that experience. After several years of involvement with the organization, I had the opportunity to serve on the board of my local professional chapter.
Board service gave me a different perspective on leadership—one built around community, collaboration, stewardship and shared purpose rather than organizational hierarchy.
It also provided an opportunity to give back to the creative and marketing community that had played such an important role in the earlier stages of my career.
Some of the most meaningful leadership happens outside the organization.

A Stronger Industry
The American Advertising Federation brings together professionals from across creative, marketing and media to inspire growth, recognize excellence and invest in the next generation of talent.
Being part of this community—and serving on the board—provided an opportunity to contribute, collaborate and help advance the industry that played such an important role early in my career.
It also reinforced the value of professional communities: bringing together people with different experiences, disciplines and perspectives around a shared desire to learn, contribute and move the profession forward.
Recognition
Contribution recognized by the community.
In 2016, the club was honored to receive an AAF Club Achievement Award, recognizing contributions to the local chapter and broader advertising community.
More importantly, the recognition reflected the collective work of dedicated board members and volunteers committed to advancing the industry, supporting creative professionals and creating opportunities for the next generation.
My Perspective
“Leadership isn't limited to the organization on your business card.”
Serving within a professional community reinforced something that has remained important throughout my career: leadership is as much about contribution and influence as it is authority.
Some of the strongest professional communities are built by people willing to share what they know, learn from others and invest their time in helping the broader profession move forward.
The strongest professional communities aren't built by what people take from them, but by what people are willing to contribute.
