Retirement + Digital Transformation + CX

Transforming
the Retirement Experience at Scale

Connecting recordkeeping technology, digital platforms, advisor enablement, participant experience and brand across a rapidly evolving retirement organization.

A defining moment for growth and transformation

The Opportunity

Following PCS Retirement’s acquisition of Aspire Financial Services in 2019, the organization faced a significant opportunity—and a complex challenge. The combined business needed to connect brand, technology, customer experience and product offerings while continuing to serve a diverse ecosystem of retirement plans, participants, advisors and strategic partners.

The opportunity extended well beyond integrating two organizations. It was about creating a more connected, modern and engaging retirement experience that could scale with the business, support different customer and partner needs, and strengthen the organization’s position within an evolving retirement marketplace.

For me, this represented a pivotal point in my career—expanding my work beyond digital and customer experience into broader retirement technology, product strategy and business transformation.

Transformation in Action

A selection of initiatives and experiences that helped modernize the retirement ecosystem and create greater value for participants, advisors, plan sponsors and strategic partners.

Participant & Digital Experience

Modernized digital experiences to make retirement planning more accessible, personalized and engaging.

The work included participant-facing websites, digital journeys, content and portal experiences designed to simplify complex retirement concepts and make it easier for individuals to understand and engage with their financial future.

Brand & Market Experience

Unified brand experiences across channels to reflect a stronger, more connected organization.

The work included enterprise brand evolution, digital identity, communications and customer-facing experiences designed to create greater consistency as the organization and its capabilities evolved.

Advisor & Distribution Enablement

Created integrated tools and experiences to help advisors identify opportunities and communicate retirement solutions more effectively.

This included digital sales experiences, prospecting capabilities, content, CRM integration and enablement tools designed around the needs of advisors and distribution partners.

Technology & Data Integration

Supported recordkeeping technology migration and CRM capabilities to enable more intelligent, connected experiences.

Salesforce, marketing automation, analytics, behavioral data and personalization capabilities increasingly became part of a broader ecosystem designed to better understand and respond to customer and business needs.

Product Engagement

Connected product capabilities with digital experiences and go-to-market strategies to drive deeper engagement.

Rather than treating product, marketing and digital experience as separate disciplines, the work increasingly focused on how they could work together across the complete customer journey.

Market & Field Engagement

Extended the digital and brand transformation into conferences, events and field experiences to connect physical and digital touchpoints.

This helped create greater continuity between how the organization presented itself digitally and how advisors, partners and customers experienced the brand in the marketplace.

Key Takeaways

Transformation is a connected system.

This experience reinforced that technology, product, distribution and customer experience cannot be optimized independently.

Sustainable transformation happens when organizations align these capabilities around a shared customer and business outcome.

It also highlighted the importance of balancing innovation with operational complexity—especially within retirement and financial services, where trust, continuity, security and experience are critical.

That perspective has continued to influence my work throughout the retirement industry: transformation is not a technology project, customer-experience initiative or product strategy in isolation.

It is the connection between them.

“Customers don't experience organizational structures. They experience the connections—or gaps—between them.”

Successful transformation requires organizations to connect technology + product + distribution + data + experience + people around the outcome they are trying to create.
