Digital Transformation + CX + Growth

Simplifying the Complex World of Freight

Reimagining digital acquisition, customer experience and growth during one of the most disruptive periods in modern logistics.

Complexity was everywhere. The customer experience didn't have to be.

The Challenge

In the wake of global supply-chain disruption, businesses faced unprecedented uncertainty. Capacity constraints, fluctuating rates, labor shortages and changing conditions made it increasingly difficult for customers to navigate an already complex freight environment.

For FreightCenter, the challenge was larger than marketing. The organization needed to simplify a highly complex service category and provide a more intuitive, reassuring and efficient customer experience across its digital ecosystem—while protecting inbound sales and continuing to generate demand during significant market disruption.

The opportunity was to connect strategy, digital experience, customer insight, brand and demand generation to make it easier for customers to understand their options, navigate the shipping process and move freight with greater confidence.

Transformation in Action

Digital Experience & UX
Making a complex service easier to navigate.

Refined and modernized the digital customer experience to make it easier for customers to understand freight options, navigate logistics needs and move toward a quote or shipping decision with greater confidence.

The work connected website strategy, UX, search and customer journey thinking around a simple objective: reduce complexity for the customer.

Demand Generation & Acquisition
Turning marketing investment into a more focused growth engine.

Refined digital demand-generation strategies to improve how marketing investment reached and converted prospective customers.

This included narrowing online audiences, incorporating retargeting opportunities and evolving channel strategies to focus investment more deliberately on conversion and business performance.

Humanizing a Complex Category
Making freight feel more approachable.

Freight logistics can be highly technical, particularly for customers who don't live in the industry every day.

We developed more personal, human-centered messaging and content designed to reduce anxiety, simplify complex concepts and create a brand customers could more easily understand and trust.

The “Get Ship Done!” creative platform became one expression of that strategy—using humor and relatable situations to make complicated logistics more accessible while reinforcing broader brand awareness.

Omnichannel Engagement
Connecting customer interactions across the journey.

Expanded existing digital and marketing strategies toward a more connected omnichannel approach, bringing together paid media, search, digital experiences, content, retargeting and customer communications.

The objective was not simply to add channels, but to create greater consistency across the customer experience and more opportunities to engage customers throughout their decision journey.

Brand & Content Experience
Creating clarity through communication.

Evolved brand and content strategy to better communicate FreightCenter's value, simplify the customer experience and differentiate the organization within a highly competitive transportation marketplace.

Creative direction, content and digital experience became parts of the same customer strategy rather than independent marketing activities.

Talent & Recruitment Experience
Extending experience thinking to employees.

Applied customer-experience principles to recruitment and employer communications, recognizing that experience transformation should extend beyond customers to the people responsible for delivering the experience.

The work helped create a more cohesive approach to how FreightCenter presented itself to prospective talent while supporting organizational growth.

From Campaigns to Connected Growth Engine

Connecting strategy, experience and growth.

The transformation focused on moving beyond isolated marketing tactics toward a more connected growth engine—where customer insight, digital experience, demand generation, sales and retention could work together to create a more seamless and effective customer journey.

My Perspective

“When the business is complex, the experience has to create clarity.”

In complex, fast-moving industries like logistics, transformation isn't just about technology or marketing. It's about reducing friction for the customer and connecting strategy, experience, brand, data and growth around a common goal.

Key Takeaways

Transformation starts with the customer problem—not the technology.

My experience at FreightCenter reinforced the importance of keeping the customer at the center, particularly during periods of disruption and uncertainty.

Sustainable growth comes from connecting data, digital experience, brand, demand generation and sales rather than optimizing each independently.

It also highlighted the need to balance customer needs with commercial performance—using a more human-centered approach to build trust, simplify complexity and drive long-term value.

That lesson has remained relevant throughout my career:

The organization can absorb the complexity. The customer shouldn't have to.
